The Sherman Bearcats and Denison Yellow Jackets played a playoff double-header in McKinney. Turns out, everyone from Grayson County came back happy.
The Bearcats played the first game against Rockwall. It wasn't much of a contest by playoff standards. The 9-4A district champions once again showed the ability to put a team away with a 68-54 win at McKinney Boyd High School.
The Jackets faced one of the state's best teams in Carrollton Newman Smith. Denison won, 64-59, sending the 4th ranked team home in the opening round. Newman Smith had won it's district championship, but the Jackets were able to pull the upset, despite finishing 4th in 9-4A.
Sherman will advance to play Woodrow Wilson on Friday at R.L. Turner High School. Denison's second round game is still to be determined.
