A+ Athlete: Preston Thompson

By  |

This week's A+ Athlete is Honey Grove High School’s Preston Thompson. Daniel Gotera reports.

Preston Thompson of Honey Grove High School is a great athlete, but his studies are what he's really proud of. The senior is ranked near the top of his class with a 3.5 GPA and scored a combined 1720 on his SAT. His academics always come first, no matter what he does.

The number of things he does outside the classroom is numerous. Over his high school career, the “Puerto Rican Nitro” has played basketball, track, and football, where he was one of the Warriors’ top tacklers. He says athletics have always been something he has been interested in, especially growing up in Honey Grove.

But while playing sports and making the grades, Preston runs his own lawn care business, which he started back in the fifth grade. It’s an activity which has taught him many things.

When he graduates, Thompson wants to attend TCU and major in business, and he knows it will be something he has never experienced before in his life.

We'll introduce you to another A+ Athlete every Friday here on First News AM. School officials, coaches, teachers, and counselors are encouraged to send in your nominees.
