SULPHUR, OK - This week's A+ Athlete is Jennifer Nye from Sulphur High School. Jennifer's made a name for herself as the leader of the Lady Bulldog basketball team, guiding them to the furthest they've ever been in the state tournament. She led the team in field goal percentage and she says basketball has always been something she's been involved in.
Jennifer is also a three time state qualifier in the high jump. But that’s not the only place she succeeds. In the classroom, she has collected a 4.0 GPA, scored a 27 on her ACT’s and is a two-year member of the National Honor Society.
But Jennifer's senior year has been a trying one. Back in late December, her father and long time Sulphur coach Jeff Nye was killed in a tragic accident. She says while its been hard, she will never forget his advice on always persevering and it’s something she has tried to pass on to her team.
After she graduates, she wants to attend the University of Oklahoma, but her major is still undecided, even though she's leaning towards something in the medical field.
Congratulations to Jennifer Nye for being named this week’s A+ Athlete.
