SUWANEE, Ga. – Sophomore first baseman Stefanie Faith heads a list of seven members of the Austin College softball team who earned All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors for the 2009 season, the league office has announced.
Faith was named 2nd Team All-SCAC, while Sam Smith, Carolyn Stone, Kali Gossett, Suzanne Beltran, Abbey Hayes and Bobbi Schulle were each named Honorable Mention All-Conference.
Faith, a native of Rowlett, hit .320 with six home runs and 25 runs batted in while adding eight doubles on the year. She also had a .573 slugging percentage, .426 on base percentage, and scored 21 runs on the year.
Smith, a sophomore third baseman from Colleyville, hit .286 on the year with seven doubles, three home runs and 15 runs batted in.
Stone, a sophomore catcher from Carrollton, started every game behind the plate and had five doubles, a homer and 17 runs batted in.
Gossett, a junior second baseman from Grand Prairie, was among the conference leaders with 10 double plays turned and had a team best 93 defensive assists and added 18 runs scored and six stolen bases on the year.
Beltran, a freshman designated player from Houston, hit .318 and tied for the conference lead with 16 doubles while also hitting five home runs and driving in 37 runs.
Hayes, a sophomore outfielder from Anna, scored 10 runs and had four stolen bases on the year while also driving in six runs, and Schulle, a junior shortstop from Lockhart, hit a team best .325 with seven doubles, two triples, 10 runs batted in and scored a team-best 30 runs while also stealing 13 bases.
