Southeastern Softball season ends; lose 9-0 to ASU

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Southeastern saw its school and conference record tying 53-win season come to an end on Saturday, falling to Angelo State, 9-0, at the South Central Super Regional in San Angelo, Texas.

For the second-straight season the Savage Storm tallied 53 wins, tying the same school mark they set last season and becoming the third team in Lone Star Conference history to win as many games.

SE found offense hard to come by for the second-straight game as Erika Bernal and Laney Anderson collected the only two hits on the day, while Benita Sanchez drew a walk and was the only other base runner.

In the circle, Jami McAdoo got the start and was handed the loss, falling to 18-4 on the year after allowing seven runs on five hits with one strikeout in 3.0 innings.

Amanda Tanner tossed the final 4.0 innings, allowing two runs on eight hits with three K’s.

After a scoreless first inning, ASU put up three runs in the second and four more in the fourth to mount a 7-0 lead.

After switching pitchers, SE held the Belles off the board for the next three innings, but was unable to take advantage with an answer of their own.

ASU added its final two runs in the seventh inning to fashion the final of 9-0.

Chelsea Nelson picked up the win, tossing a complete game and allowing two hits with four strikeouts.

Four Belles had home runs on the day, with Megan Pumphrey leading the way with a 2-for-3 outing, driving in three and scoring twice.
