DENISON, TX – The Denison Yellow Jackets have hired former Van Alstyne star and University of Texas recruit Katie Holley to be its new girls head basketball coach.
Holley was an All-State player with the Panthers back in 1998 and was given a scholarship to attend UT, but injuries cut her career short in her sophomore year. Holley then graduated early and worked as an assistant at Georgetown. She was at Georgetown from 2002-2005.
After completing three years there, she moved to Vista Ridge High School in the Leander Independent School District. While at Vista Ridge, she served as the schools head track coach and assistant on the girl’s basketball team.
Holley replaces David Guadiano who left last week to take the job at Sam Rayburn.
