Texas Tech looks to improve on its 21-1 home record against non-conference foes under coach Mike Leach. The Red Raiders don't want to stumble heading into their matchup next weekend against No. 2 Texas. Rice lost 44-24 to UAB in its opener, snapping a seven-game winning streak. The schedule doesn't get any easier for Rice, which plays No. 5 Oklahoma State next week.
