Eldridge expected to play with broken finger

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Team captain Brody Eldridge is expected to play for No. 13 Oklahoma this week despite having a broken pinkie finger on his right hand.

Sooners coach Bob Stoops said after practice Wednesday that he didn't expect Eldridge to miss any time because of the injury.

Eldridge had previously played as a backup tight end for Oklahoma, but was moved to the offensive line this preseason and started at center for the Sooners last week against BYU. Coaches have said Eldridge recorded 20 knockdowns against BYU.

After starting tight end Jermaine Gresham had season-ending knee surgery, Sooners coaches had Eldridge practice more at tight end this week while determining his role for Saturday's home opener against Idaho State.
