3/23/04 SHERMAN - Mike Crowe has been named Offensive Coordinator at Austin College, Vice President of Student Affairs and Athletics Tim Millerick announced today. Crowe comes to Austin College from Pottsboro High School where he served as athletic director and head football coach for three years. Said Millerick, "We are fortunate to add someone with Mike's experience, knowledge and success in coaching football to our football staff. We anticipate that by adding him to our staff we have both improved our coaching staff and our efforts to recruit the best possible Division III athletes in Texas and the surrounding states." Head Coach David Norman said "We're excited to have someone with Mike's experience and caliber join the Austin College football family. He will bring a lot to the field and to our recruiting process." Two of Crowe's athletes from Pottsboro are currently on the Austin College football roster; sophomore Bradley Rawlins and freshman Ryan Cowley. Cowley was the team's leading rusher and was named to the American Southwest All-Conference team. On making the move to Austin College Crowe said, "I'm just thrilled to be coming over to Austin College. It's been an aspiration of mine for some time to work with kids at the next level. I'm excited about being a part of Coach Norman's staff and being a part of Austin College." Crowe and Andy, his wife of 33 years, live in Pottsboro and have two sons and a daughter. Austin College, affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), is an independent, liberal arts college of 1,300 students located 60 miles north of Dallas, in Sherman, Texas. Chartered in November 1849, it is the oldest college in Texas under original charter and name as recognized by the State Historical Survey Committee. Austin College is included in Loren Pope's Colleges That Change Lives, ranked among the "Best 351 Colleges" in the 2004 Princeton Review, and profiled in the 2004 edition of Kaplan's Insiders Guide to the 328 Most Interesting Colleges.
