Gillespie linked to Arkansas job

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The head of the University of Arkansas
System board confirms Texas A&M basketball coach Billy Gillispie is a candidate for the Razorbacks coaching vacancy.

But Stanley Reed says the university is waiting to hear back from Gillespie. But the head of the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees says Gillespie isn't the only candidate for the men's coaching vacancy.

Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles has told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that he's offered the job to someone, but he wouldn't say to whom. He says there could be a quick announcement,
or the offer could fall through. Broyles says he's waiting to hear if the offer has been accepted.

Speculation has centered on Gillispie, who took the Aggies to the Sweet 16 this year. Arkansas fired Stan Heath on Monday, and attention immediately turned to Gillispie.

Broyles says he hasn't talked to any coaches, but that "the one I'm trying to get knows I want him to have the job."
