4-4-07 - Cameron used a big fifth inning to come away with a 7-3 win in Game Wednesday at McCord Field and earn a Lone Star Conference North Division sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma State.
The Aggies (18-18, 5-2) chased SOSU starter C.J. Stewart in the fifth inning after Kyle Wolbrick reached on a walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt.
Stewart allowed two runs on three hits in 4 1/3 innings of work, while striking out three and walking three before he was relived by Jordan Semore in the fifth inning.
The Aggies' Mark Armstrong greeted Semore with a fielder's choice groundball to short stop, but the next five would reach on three singles, a double and a walk as Cameron pushed across five runs on four hits in the inning to take a 5-2 lead.
Jorey Price delivered a two-run single in the decisive inning and Josh Mathieson added a two-run double.
Semore finishe d the inning but allowed five runs - four earned - on four hits to fall to 3-6 on the season.
Southeastern had built a 2-1 lead thanks to the combination of Brad Northcott and Erik Hughes.
Hughes used a pair of run scoring singles to score Northcott, who had reached a two-out double in the second and a one-out extra-bagger in the fourth.
The Savage Storm cashed in its only other double of the game in the seventh when David Newell drove in Lance Powers, who had lined a one-out double to left field.
Newell, Northcott and Hughes paced the Savage Storm attack with two hits each, but Cameron starter Ryan Totte went the distance while allowing three runs on nine hits to pick up the win for the Aggies.
Southeastern (16-21, 2-5) travels to Ada on Friday to take on East Central in another LSC North Division tilt. First pitch for the twin bill is set for 2 p.m.
The teams will wrap up the series with a single nine-inning game on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
