Oklahoma's football team had the worst graduation rates in the Big 12 under the most recent data released by the NCAA.
According to figures released Wednesday by the NCAA, only 45
percent of the football players who enrolled at Oklahoma between
1999 and 2002 earned their degrees within six years. That period
coincides with coach Bob Stoops' first four years as the Sooners'
Federal data that does not factor in players who transfer or
enroll at mid-year puts Oklahoma's graduation rate for that period
at 37 percent, also the lowest in the Big 12.
The NCAA's calculations put the Sooners fifth in the Big 12 with
a 57 percent graduation rate in men's basketball and 10th in the
conference with a 73 percent rate in women's basketball.
