ECU Releases Football Schedule

4-17-07 - East Central University will open play at traditional national power Pittsburg State, before battling nine Lone Star Conference teams, including one at home on a Thursday night, as the 2007 football schedule was released on Tuesday.
The Tigers, 2-8 a year ago, will play the same schedule as 2006 only with flip-flopped sites. ECU’s 2007 opponents had a combined 55-53 record in 2006.
Pittsburg State, 10-2 last season, knocked off the Tigers 52-12 at Norris Field to open the 2006 season. This time, the two teams will square off at 7 p.m. on Sept. 1 in Pittsburg, Kan.
ECU opens the home portion of its slate against Angelo State (3-7 last year) on Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. at Norris Field. The Tigers beat the Rams 20-6 last year for one of their two victories.
ECU’s other home dates include: Sept. 22 against Midwestern State (10-3) for homecoming at 6 p.m.; Thursday, Oct. 4 against Central Oklahoma (5-6) at 7 p.m.; Oct. 27 against Texas A&M-Commerce (5-5) at 2 p.m.; and Nov. 10 against rival Southeastern Oklahoma State (6-4) at 2 p.m. to conclude the regular season.
The Tigers’ other road games include: Sept. 15 at Eastern New Mexico (3-7) at 7 p.m. CDT; Sept. 29 at Northeastern State (4-6) at 2 p.m. to open LSC North play; Oct. 13 at Texas A&M-Kingsville (3-8) at 6 p.m.; and Nov. 3 at Southwestern Oklahoma State (6-5) at 2 p.m.
