4-28-07 -- After making a trade for the second time in the first round, the Dallas Cowboys selected Purdue defensive end Anthony Spencer with the 27th pick in Saturday's draft.
The Cowboys traded the first of their two second-round picks (36th overall), a third-round pick (87th overall) and a fifth-round pick (187th overall) to NFC East rival Philadelphia for the 27th pick.
It was the second trade of the first round for the Cowboys, who dealt the 22nd pick to the Cleveland Browns for a second-round selection (36th overall) and a 2008 first-round pick.
The 6-2, 261-pound Spencer could be a fit in new coach Wade Phillips' 3-4 defensive scheme. Spencer registered 93 tackles, including 26 1/2 for loss, 10 1/2 sacks and five forced fumbles in his final collegiate season.
