Pottsboro Advances to Austin!!

6-2-07 -- The season continues for the Pottsboro baseball team. They won back to back elimination games over Peaster 9-8 and 8-6 to advance to the 2A State Tournament.

The Cardinals (27-7-2), who came into Saturday's games trailing Peaster 1-0 in their best of 3 series, almost gave away Game 1 as they allowed 7 runs to come across in the bottom of the 7th. But they stopped the bleeding and closed out Game 2, winning 9-8 to force a decisive Game 3.

Pottsboro then wasted no time in putting Peaster into an early hole in the series finale, jumping out to a 6-2 lead by the 3rd Inning. Then they coasted home to win 8-6.

Coach Williams' squad is headed to Austin for the State Tournament for the first time since 1988.

They will take on Region III Champion Hooks (28-8) in the 2A State Semi-final game on Friday, June 8th at 10am at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, TX. The other semi-final matchup features Rogers (34-2) squaring off with Blanco (27-8). The 2A State Championship is scheduled for the following day, Saturday, June 9th at 11am at Dell Diamond.
