ROUND ROCK, Texas - Josh Stevens struck out 13 to lead Hooks to a 6-to-2 victory today over Pottsboro for a spot in the Class 2A state baseball championship game.
Stevens allowed just four hits and also scored the final run for Hooks -- which faces Rogers on Saturday for the title.
Hooks (29-and-8) took control in the fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie in the game in Round Rock.
A Jon Phillips RBI that scored Matt Riddle, then two more runners scored on an overthrown ball.
Brandon Choate led Hooks from the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Pottsboro (27-8-2) jumped to an early lead when Tanner Clay hit a two-run double down the left field line in the first inning.
Clay finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Ricky Wilson (4-and-4) took the loss for Pottsboro, allowing six runs on eight hits in five innings.
