SOSU's Hale Heads to Millersville

7-16-07 - President Francine G. McNairy has named Dr. Jeffery L. Hale as the new vice president of student affairs at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. Hale will begin his position on August 1.

Hale comes to Millersville from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he served as vice president, enrollment management and marketing and intercollegiate athletics, since 2005. There he led a student-centered division that included the honors program, academic advising and outreach, the learning center, freshmen programs office, financial aid services, admissions and recruitment services, the registrar, college success program, international recruitment and intercollegiate athletics.

“We’re excited to have Dr. Hale join the University,” said President McNairy. “His combination of experience and enthusiasm is a good match for Millersville.”

While at Southeastern Hale developed and coordinated a city-wide and university voter-approved campaign to raise $17 million for athletic and intramural improvements on campus and in the city of Durant. Previously, Hale served as assistant vice president, enrollment management, at Southeastern (2000-05) and in a number of progressively responsible student affairs positions at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, from 1991-2000.

Hale earned a bachelor’s degree in history, a master’s degree in college student personnel and his Ph.D. in adult education from the University of Oklahoma. He was recognized by the National Resource Center for the First-Year Student Experience and Students in Transition at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, in 2004; as an Outstanding First-Year Student Advocate; and under his leadership Southeastern’s Academic Advising Center was recognized as an Outstanding Retention Program with a Noel Levitz National Award for Student Retention.

Hale was selected after an extensive national search. He plans to live in the Lancaster area.
