Mavs sign Eddie Jones

The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have signed veteran free agent Eddie Jones. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Jones (6-6, 200) is a three-time NBA All-Star (1997, 1998, 2000) and
currently ranks seventh on the NBA's all-time list for 3-point field goals
made (1,512). He was named to the NBA's All-Defensive Second Team three consecutive years (1998, 1999, 2000) and garnered All-NBA Third Team honors in 2000.

The Pompano Beach, Fla., native holds career averages of 15.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 steals in 907 games. He also has extensive postseason experience (78 games) and boasts playoff averages of 13.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

The 13-year veteran was an unrestricted free agent after finishing last
season with the Miami Heat. Jones was originally the lottery pick (10th
overall) of the Los Angeles Lakers out of Temple University in 1994. While at Temple, Jones earned Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year honors as a senior (1993-94) and led the Owls in scoring (19.2), blocked shots (1.5) and field goal percentage (.470). He was also a member of Team USA's gold medal-winning squad in the 1993 World Championships.
