Former Oklahoma quarterback Paul Thompson is making a run at winning the third-string quarterback job with the Green Bay Packers.
Thompson played quarterback, receiver and went back to quarterback at OU then signed as a undrafted free agent receiver with the New York Jets but was released when Green Bay agreed to give him a try at quarterback.
After a struggling at first Thompson is now opening some eyes with his arm strength, athleticism and work habits.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy says there is a good battle between Thompson and Ingle Martin to be the third quarterback.
The Packers starter is veteran Brett Favre and the backup is former first-round draft pick Aaron Rodgers.
