Tragedy at NCTC, Baseball Player Dies at 18

8-29-07 - North Central Texas College pitcher Josh Fant, 18, died after collapsing in the baseball team's first workout.

Fant died Thursday evening after suffering a heat stroke in the Monday practice. He was a freshman for the NCTC baseball team, and a Granbury High School graduate.

The players were finishing up their opening workout when Fant collapsed while jogging. Teammates rushed to his assistance, and he was later treated.

KXII contacted NCTC president Dr. Eddie Hadlock, who said he received word of Fant's passing at approximately 8:30pm on Thursday night.
