Southeastern golf coach Don Hudson has announced the signing of Thomas Alstadt who will join the men's golf program beginning in the 2013-14 season.
Alstadt, a native of Little Rock, Ark., makes the move to join the Savage Storm as a junior transfer after spending his first two seasons at Columbus State CC in Columbus, Ohio.
“He is a very mature and very competitive individual,” said Hudson. “He doesn't only push himself, but he pushes his teammates to get better. He will be great addition to our program.”
In his nearly two seasons at CSCC he has posted some very impressive numbers.
Alstadt posted nine tournament victories over two seasons, while also adding a fourth place finish at the NJCAA Region XII tournament and following that up with a sixth place finish in the 2012 NJCAA Division II National Championship which helped him earn All-American honors as a freshman.
During his current season he has been ranked in the top 20 as an individual for the entire year.
His success stretches back prior to his junior college days and includes a first place finish at the 2009 USGA US Amateur Qualifier in Marion, Ga., which earned him a trip to the US Amateur that year that was played at Southern Hills CC in Tulsa, Okla.
In addition to being a 2012 NJCAA First Team All-American, Alstadt was also the OCCAC Conference Player of the Year and earned a spot on the NJCAA Division II National Championship All-Tournament Team.
He was a first team All-OCCAC selection and followed that with an All-Region XII selection, earning a place on the 2012 NJCAA Top Players to Watch list.
