Joe Jones has resigned as the Atoka head coach, less than a week before the start of football practices.
Jones has been the head coach of the Wampus Cats for the past two seasons, and leaves to take a job in the oil fields.
"This is a great opportunity for my family," Jones said. "I know the timing is tough. I hated leaving the kids in a bad way. This was a job that came up that might not be there tomorrow. So I had to do what was best for me and my family."
In the meantime, Atoka will turn to defensive coordinator Jimmy Wyrick, who has been promoted to interim head coach.
This is the second area coach to resign in the past week. Hugo lost Terry Shamley to resignation earlier in the week.
Football practices can begin next Monday in Oklahoma.
