The University of Central Oklahoma scored eight runs between the sixth and eighth innings to open up what had been a tight game between the Austin College baseball team and the Bronchos, as UCO topped the ‘Roos 10-2 on Tuesday evening. The ‘Roos fall to 4-25 overall this season with the loss.
UCO jumped out to a 1-0 lead with an RBI double from Josh Ingram in the first, but Austin College countered in the bottom half of the inning when Patrick Renz singled through the right side to plate a pair of runs and give the ‘Roos a 2-1 advantage. That’s how things stayed until the third, when the Bronchos tallied to square things up.
That would be the last run on either side until the top of the sixth, when UCO would put four runs across to make it a 6-2 game, and the next inning the Bronchos added three more runs to push the margin to 9-2. One more unearned run came home in the eighth inning to make it 10-2, and Austin College was unable to get a rally going in the team’s final two at-bats.
Braley Williams took the loss in relief for Austin College, surrendering four runs on just one hit but walking three batters in 1.0 inning of work. CJ Adame went 2-for-3 while Renz finished 1-for-2 with two RBI for the ‘Roos.
