After opening the season with a midweek win, Southeastern will be looking to string together a weekend of victories when it heads to Corpus Christi Texas to play in the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach South Texas Baseball Classic Feb. 8-10.
The event is being played at Whataburger Field which is home to the Corpus Christi Hooks which is a Houston Astros minor league affiliate.
The Savage Storm open the event on Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. when it faces Loyola (La., and will follow that with a Feb. 9 matchup with Texas A&M-Kingsville at 6 p.m. and a Feb. 10 meeting with St. Cloud State at noon.
SE opened the season with a 5-3 road win over Northwood in Dallas, Texas.
In the win, the Storm posted four hits, with Mark Frank driving in a pair of runs, while Ryanj Salter and Aaron Chalk each added an RBI.
The pitching staff had a solid outing, with Brandon Marris tossing 4.0 innings in the start and allowing a run on just two hits before handing the ball to Eddie Cervantes.
Cervantes picked up the win in relief after tossing 3.0 innings and allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits.
Levi Lewis would come on to close out the contest with a 2.0 inning save in which he struck out three of the six batters he faced.
Marris and Cervantes each posted three K's as well.
LU is off to a 3-5 start after sweeping Rust College in the last weekend of January in a three-game series before falling into a five-game skid against Stillman and Mobile.
They are led by John Nicholson at the plate who has posted a .542 average in 24 at bats with 11 RBI.
Three different pitchers have each registered a win for the club, while Daniel Posway leads the team with 12 strikeouts.
TAMUK is off to a 3-1 start to the season which includes wins over Central Missouri, Arkansas-Monticello and Abilene Christian.
The Javelinas are led by a trio of hitters over .400 that is paced by Taylor Taska at .474 with a home run and four RBI.
The TAMUK pitching staff is led by Dallas Ponder who is 1-0 while surrendering a run on two hits in 6.0 innings of work.
SCSU will be opening its season with the trip to Corpus Christi.
Following the trip to south Texas, Southeastern will return home for the home opening weekend Feb. 15-16 when it opens Great American Conference play against Henderson State. Game one is set for 2 p.m. on Feb. 15, with a double-header slated at noon on Feb. 16.
