ECU adds 28 on Signing Day

ADA – The East Central University football team has added 28 new faces to the 2014 roster between 23 2014 signees and five mid-year additions. The group includes 12 players from Texas, seven from Oklahoma, six from California, one from Michigan and one from Louisiana.

The Tigers have added strength across the board, with eight receivers, four defensive ends, four offensive lineman, three quarterbacks, two cornerbacks, two centers, and one each at linebacker, safety, tight end, running back and utility.

Was a four-year member of the Pottsboro High School varsity team…helped the Cardinals to four-straight District titles, three-straight bi-district and two-straight area titles…named to the All-Texomaland First Team as a junior and senior…was District 6 MVP as a senior…the Cardinals finished 41-5 in his four seasons.

A 2013 Texas District 12-4A First Team selection…caught 23 passes for 497 yards as a senior…tallied nine touchdowns…also participated in track & field where is ran the 100-meter dash in 10.8.

Matt Day, LB, 6-0, 205, Moore, Okla. (Westmoore)
Helped the Jaguars to the city, conference and regional titles in 2013…helped Westmoore advance to the state semifinals…recorded 139 tackles, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, two blocked punts and one sack as a senior…named to the all-city, all-conference, all-district and all-Mid State teams.

Jason Dickinson, WR, 6-4, 201, Chula Vista, Calif. (Southwestern College)
Played one season at Southwestern College…helped the Jaguars to a 10-3 record and a Patriotic Bowl win…finished with 47 catches for 482 yards and four touchdowns…played at Christina High School…helped the Patriots to a CIS Championship in 2011…earned All-Coastal League First Team honors as a senior…finished with 687 yards on 53 receptions and seven TDs.

Cameron Hanan, DE, 6-3, 235, Ardmore, Okla. (Plainview)
Was a standout on the Plainview High School varsity team for four seasons…helped the Indians to three district titles and state tournament appearances…earned All-District First Team and All-Ardmoreite Super Team honors as a senior….also participated in wrestling as a prep at the 220 pound class where he is 26-0 so far in 2014.

Played at Catossa High School…earned All-District 4A-5 honors as a senior…recorded 48 receptions and 817 yards…also participated in basketball, soccer and track & field as a prep.

A member of the Southwest High School varsity team…helped the Raiders into the first round of the state tournament in 2013…earned All-District Second Team honors after 28 receptions for 629 yards and nine touchdowns.

Named to the Texas 9-4A All-District First Team as a senior at Frisco Centennial High School…tallied 28 catches for 518 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior…also played defensive back for three games and recorded two interceptions.

A four-year standout at Wayne High School…helped the team to a district title in 2010 and the 2011 State Championship…earned District Offensive Player of the Year honors as a senior and Defensive Player of the Year honors as a junior and sophomore…tallied 47 tackles, two sacks, 1132 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns in 2013.

Spent three seasons on the varsity squad at Sulphur High School…helped the Bulldogs to a third-place finish in District 3A-4 as a senior…recorded 72 tackles, eight TFL and four pass deflections…named 3A-4 Tight End of the Year…also earned Daily Ardmoreite Super Team TE honors.

Played his prep ball at Wakeland High School…threw for 1314 yards as senior, with seven passing TDs and six rushing…earned All-District Honorable Mention honors…added 2570 yards as a junior, with 23 passing TDs and four rushing.

Spent two seasons on the Gainesville High School varsity team….helped the Leopards to the regionals in 2013 and the state quarterfinals in 2012…named to the All-Texoma First Team as a senior…rushed for 433 yards, with three TDs in 2013…also caught nine passes for 188 yards and five touchdowns…on defense recorded 120 tackles and one interception.

Spent two seasons at Mt. San Antonio College…finished his career with 11 receptions for 118 yards and one TD…played his high school ball at Mumford High School in Detroit, Mich.

Spent three seasons on the Lamar High School varsity team…helped the Vikings to district titles in 2011 and 2013 and Bi-District titles the last two seasons…named an All-District Honorable Mention pick as a senior.

Spent the last two seasons at Golden West College…started every snap at center in 2013…played for four years at Cypress High School…helped the team to the state tournament all four years and to the CIF title as a sophomore.

Has been a member of the Gainesville High School varsity team for the past two seasons…the Leopards finished 25-2…named to the All-District First Team, All-Texoma First Team and All-State Academic teams as a senior…rushed for 117 yards and caught seven passes for 75 yards in 2013.

Helped the Mounties finished second in the National Central Conference as a sophomore…threw for 2400 yards, with 26 touchdowns…earned All-NCC Second Team honors in 2013…played at La Canada High School as a prep…named to the Rio Mondo First Team and All-San Gabriel Second Team as a senior.

Nate Pickett, HR, 6-4, 215, Tatum, Texas (Trinity Valley CC)
Comes to the Tigers from Trinity Valley Community College…helped the Cardinals to a SWJCFC Conference title as a sophomore…caught 18 passes for 250 yards…earned All-SWJCFC Honorable Mention honors…played at Tatum High School…caught 54 passes for 1016 yards and 12 TDs as a senior.

Justin Vannatta, DE, 6-4, 235, San Bernardino, Calif. (San Bernardino College)
Played two seasons at San Bernardino College…recorded 71 tackles , 16.5 TFL and a forced fumble in 2013…selected to the All-Southern California American Mountain Conference and All-California First Teams…played his prep ball at Serrano High School.
