High school football practices kicked off for the Sherman Bearcats, Ardmore Tigers and most of Southern Oklahoma.
The Bearcats took the field for the first time on Monday to begin their preparations for the 2014 season. New head coach Bill Patterson led his team in it's first fall workout.
"We've been talking about it forever," Patterson said. "Coaches meeting about it, working on our plans, practice schedules, offensive and defensive playbooks, calling kids getting them physicals making sure everything is ready to go"
The Ardmore Tigers also took the field on Monday. Doug Wendel and his team hope it is the start of a special year.
"We feel like were ready to go," Wendel said. "We have a lot of kids that are hungry and anxious to get on the field and see what they can do."
Most Southern Oklahoma football teams opened practices on Monday in all classifications.
