GAC Honors Four SE Tennis Standouts

Members of Southeastern's men's and women's tennis teams have earned Great American Conference recognition for their performance throughout the 2013 season as the league released its all-conference squads on Friday to coincide with the start of the conference championship tournament.

The Savage Storm men put two players on the first team in Luka Radulovic and Filip Pavlovic, while on the women's side Andreea Georgescu and Sabina Mardarenko were each named second team all-conference.

Radulovic, a senior from Belgrade, Serbia, picks up first team all-GAC honors for the second-straight season after posting 13 wins in singles play, including a pair of wins over ranked competition. He played at No. 1 all season in singles, posting a season-best winning streak of five matches and ending the regular season with a three-match streak. He also added eight wins in doubles play.

Pavlovic, a senior also from Belgrade, Serbia, earns first team All-GAC honors for the first time after posting 10 wins on the year in singles play, including a win over No. 39 Helge Knuth from Ouachita Baptist who was also a first team selection. He also piled on 10 wins in doubles play on the year, picking up victories primarily at the No. 2 position despite playing with three different partners over the course of the season.

Georgescu, a senior from Bucharest, Romania, wrapped up her final regular season for SE with 16 total doubles wins and 15 singles victories in her career while playing at positions one-through-three in her time. She has helped her team 21 wins over her time with the Storm.

Mardarenko, a sophomore from Adazi, Latvia, repeats as a second team All-GAC honoree after pushing her career win total as an individual to nine in 2013 and has has posted eight doubles wins over the last two seasons. She has split time individually in positions one through three, while playing at Nos. 1 and 2 in doubles.

The women open their pursuit of a GAC title first with a 10 a.m. matchup on Friday morning against Ouachita Baptist, with the men set to open their tournament at 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
