The East Central University women’s basketball team honored three seniors after their last game of the 2012-13 season at the Kerr Activities Center. The Lady Tigers (17-7, 12-6 GAC) fell to Southern Nazarene, 72-81, before honoring seniors Regan Browne, Lindsay McCown and Kodi Morrison.
Junior Ashley Robison led ECU with 16 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore Dilan Webster added 12 points and seniors Regan Browne and Lindsay McCown contributed 11 and 10, respectively. Junior Alycea Price led the team on the boards, garnering 12.
After a close first three minutes, the Lady Tigers went on a 12-0 run over the next three minutes to take a 17-5 advantage. ECU kept pushing and had the lead out to nine (19-10), with just over 11 minutes to play. The Crimson Strom (15-9, 12-6 GAC) had gotten within six over the next minute, but turned the momentum in their favor over the next four minutes with a 13-0 run that gave them a 21-28 lead.
The Lady Tigers battled back to within one (29-30), with 1:42 left, but SNU finished the half with a 5-0 run to take a 29-35 lead into the intermission.
ECU came out ready to fight in the second half, going on an 11-1 run over the first four minutes before allowing the Crimson Storm to score their first field goal and take a 40-36 lead. However, SNU used a 7-0 run to regain a 40-43 advantage over the next minute.
The rest of the half was a game of runs, with the Crimson Storm starting off with another 9-0 run that gave them control of the scoreboard. The Lady Tigers used several runs overs the final minutes of the game, but were never able to get closer than one point the rest of the way and fell 72-81.
Both teams shot below 40 percent for the game, with the biggest difference coming at the charity stripe. The Crimson Storm were 20-of-28 from the line (71.4%) and only allowed the Lady Tigers to get to the line 14 times (13 makes).
ECU will have the weekend off before playing their final two games of the regular seas
on on the road. The first stop will be a battle with arch rival Southeastern Oklahoma State, Thursday, Feb. 28 at 5:30 p.m. in Weatherford, Okla.
