For the second time this season, East Central University junior Gina Mengwasser has been named the Great American Conference Player of the Week for April 16. This is the second honor for the Edmond, Okla., native in three weeks.
Mengwasser had a batting average of .600 over six games last week for the Lady Tigers (36-10, 20-6 GAC). She tallied nine hits, scored three runs and added six RBIs. Of her nine hits three were for extra bases, with two doubles and a home run. She also added 25 putouts and four assisted outs for the week.
Mengwasser has a 13 game on-base streak in progress and has tallied a hit in the last two games. She now has 14 multi-hit games and a team-best 17 multi-RBI games for the season.
ECU will wrap up the 2013 regular season, April 19-20 with a four-game GAC series at Arkansas Tech. Double-headers are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Friday, April 19 and noon, Saturday, April 20.
