The East Central University men’s tennis team will open the 2013 season at Midwestern State, Saturday, Feb. 23 with two matches. The Tigers will first face National Junior College powerhouse Tyler Junior College at 9 a.m. and then battle with the host Mustangs at 6 p.m. at the MSU Tennis Center.
The Tigers will then open the home portion of the season, Sunday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. against Cowley College.
The Apaches are 2-5 since starting their season at the beginning of February and have been the winner in their last two matches. Most of the matches they have played have been against NCAA Division II teams.
MSU is 1-0 after opening the season with a 7-2 win over Collin Community College (Feb. 9). A year ago, the Mustangs finished the year with a 9-11 overall mark.
Cowley College is 0-2 to start the 2013 season, with losses to NCAA Division I and II teams.
Women’s Tennis Opens Season with Two Matches at Midwestern
ADA – The East Central University women’s tennis team will open the 2013 season with two matches at the Midwestern State Tennis Center, Saturday, Feb. 23. The Lady Tigers will first face Tyler Junior College at 9 a.m. and then battle with the host Mustangs at 6 p.m.
The Apaches are 2-4 so far in 2013, after earning a win in their last outing. Tyler has been playing mostly NCAA Division II teams, including a 9-0 win over Henderson State from the Great American Conference.
MSU is 1-0 after earning a win over St. Mary’s, Feb. 16. Last year the Mustangs went 8-13.
