Mitch Moreland's role with the Texas Rangers immediately changed when they acquired slugger Prince Fielder.
There was even some uncertainty over the winter about whether Moreland would still be with Texas after starting a team-high 211 games the past two seasons at first base, which is Fielder's primary position.
The Rangers kept Moreland, and he has spent most of his time so far in spring training working with the outfielders. He has done limited work at first base, and he will get plenty of turns as the designated hitter.
Moreland says he's trying to get acclimated to a couple of different positions. He was starting Friday's spring training game in right field.
Elvis Andrus is the only current Texas player with more games in a Rangers uniform than Moreland.
