The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association says the Guthrie High School football team won't have to forfeit eight of its victories and can compete in the playoffs.
OSSAA officials ruled Wednesday that coach Rafe Watkins will be
suspended for eight games, and a student who was deemed ineligible
will be suspended for the rest of the season. The team will be
placed under a warning for the next year.
The OSSAA ruled last week that the ineligible player didn't move
from Prague to Guthrie and therefore couldn't participate in
Guthrie's games. The Bluejays had to forfeit eight of its 10 wins.
Guthrie was the No. 1 team in Class 5A in The Associated Press
Oklahoma high school football poll until it dropped to fourth place
because of the ineligibility dispute.
