The Oklahoma State basketball team has released Jared Terrell from the national letter of intent that he signed with OSU in November.
Head coach Travis Ford said Friday in a statement released by OSU that Terrell requested and was granted the release due to unforeseen circumstances regarding his family. Terrell's mother said in the statement that the issues include the death of Terrell's grandmother.
Ford said in the statement that he's disappointed - but that it's better that Terrell remain close to his home.
Terrell is a 6-foot-3-inch guard originally from Weymouth, Mass., who played last season at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. He was one of six signees with the OSU basketball team.
