University of Oklahoma sophomore quarterback Kendal Thompson has been arrested in Norman for public intoxication and refusing to obey a police officer's orders.
OU spokesman Pete Moris issued a statement Friday saying that OU officials are aware of the arrest "and are handling it internally." Moris said coach Bob Stoops was not available for comment.
Oklahoma City television station KOCO reports police were investigating a loud party early Friday when they found Thompson lying in the grass outside of an apartment. Authorities say Thompson reportedly refused to obey orders and tried to walk away.
Police did not immediately return phone calls to The Associated Press for comment.
Thompson was in a three-way battle for the starting quarterback job at OU. He is the son of former Sooner quarterback Charles Thompson.
