Pacheco-Orozco Sets NCAA Provisional Mark at First Meet

East Central University track & field senior Juan Joel Pacheco-Orozco had a great start to the 2016 outdoor track & field season, setting an NCAA provisional mark in the first meet of the season in the 5,000 meters.

Pacheco-Orozco finished first at the Joe Gillespie Invitational, with a time of 14:33.81, which is also the best time in the event by any student-athlete in any division so far this outdoor season.

The Tigers swept the top three spots in the race at the meet, with freshman Cole Montogermy earning second (15:02.89) and junior Richard Mora third (15:05.03). Junior Adrian Guevara was sixth (15:32.54) and three other ECU runners also participated in the race, with all three finishing in the top 20.
