Pirates eye revenge against Wolfe City

COLLINSVILLE, TX - High school football playoffs begin this week and for the Collinsville Pirates, who eye revenge against a team that bounced them out of the postseason last year.

The Pirates made their 8th straight playoff appearance after finishing 7-3 and 4-1 in the 7-1A.

"It's just good to get into the playoffs because that means your in the tournament and you now have a chance to win a state championship. You know, right now were all zero and zero," said head coach Danny David.

The Pirates will see a familiar opponent in the first round. The Wolfe City Wolves, who knocked the Pirates out of contention last season are up again.

"We've played them four times now in two years," said coach David. "Played them last year in the regular season and we beat them, and then they come back and beat us in bi-district."

One of the keys to the game will be controlling the line of scrimmage, where the Pirates feel they are greatly undersized.

"Their a lot bigger than us, we don't have much size," said senior Connor Daley.
"Their pretty good and they got some athletes, but we can take care of them," said senior Tanner Petska.
