Southeastern head coach Darin Grover has announced the singing of Olivia Potter and Miranda Schaefer who will join the Savage Storm for the 2013-14 season as freshmen.
Potter and Schaefer join Rachel Wallace who signed with SE during the early signing period, bringing the 2013-14 new additions to the roster to three.
Potter hails from Walters, Okla., where she was a standout at Walter High School, earning All-State honors from the Daily Oklahoman as a senior. Over her high school career she was a three-time Southern 8 Conference Most Valuable player and twice named MVP of the Oilfield Conference. She also earned all-conference honors in both conferences over all four seasons. She also earned OCA all-region honors and OGBCA all-region recognition.
At WHS she averaged 20 points per game and set the school career scoring record with 2,211 points over four seasons. She has a career high of 47 points and has 40-or-more in seven games. She has also added 188 assists, 331 steals and 160 rebounds over her four seasons.
“Olivia is a tremendous three point shooter with range out to 30 feet,” said Grover. “I have not coached anyone at SE with the kind of range Olivia possesses, she will definitely help us stretch our offense and open up driving lanes. She also does a good job of getting to the basket and finishing shots on the move.”
Schaefer joins the Storm from Wright City High School in Wright City, Okla. She is the sister of SE sophomore Haley Schaefer.
While at WCHS she earned OGBCA All-State honors as a senior after averaging 18.7 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per contest. She was named the MC-6 Conference Most Valuable Player as a junior and a senior and was also named the MVP of the MC-6 Tournament both of those seasons as well.
“Miranda is a very good athlete that can play inside and out,” said Grover. “She shows the ability to go get rebounds outside of her area and is a great finisher underneath the basket. We are excited for her to join her sister Haley here at SE.”
