It was the night of the storms, and the Cardinals, as Pottsboro and Savoy each reached the third round of the playoffs.
The Pottsboro Cardinals endured a weather delay that exceeded two hours before they could wrap up a tight 14-13 win over Redwater on Thursday.
With just over 9 minutes left to play in the 4th quarter and Pottsboro holding onto a 14-7 lead, weather became a factor. After a 2-plus hour delay, Redwater scored a touchdown, but went for a 2 point conversion that failed. Pottsboro held on for the win and advanced to round three.
The Savoy Cardinals endured a weather delay at the start of their game, but went on to beat Gordon 22-6. The weather was not the only thing causing a slow start, offenses were hindered too. Savoy lead 8-0 at the half. Scoring picked up in the final two quarters when the Cardinals won 22-6 and advanced to the regional finals next week.
