Rangers' 1st trip to Cards since 2011 World Series

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington insists he won't have any flashbacks when his team gets to St. Louis.

Still, Elvis Andrus remembers how close the Rangers were to a World Series title the last time they were there.

An interleague series at Busch Stadium starting Friday will be their first trip back since the 2011 World Series, when the Rangers were twice within a strike of winning Game 6. They then blew an early 2-0 lead in Game 7.

Nelson Cruz, the MVP of the AL championship series that year, says he has good memories and bad memories, and is "going to keep the good ones."

David Freese's tying two-run triple in the ninth inning of Game 6 was to just out of the reach of Cruz in right field.
