The Ringling Blue Devils bid for a class A state championship repeat came one game short in a 29-12 loss to Hollis on Thursday night.
Ringling found themselves playing from behind most of the night. After trailing 8-0 early, the Blue Devils managed to pull to within 8-6, but that is as close as they were all night.
Hollis opened up a 23-6 lead at halftime, and were able to hold off Ringling for the 17 point victory.
The Blue Devils were attempting to win the class A title for the second year in a row.
"I'm so proud of our kids, " head coach Tracy Gandy said. "Our kids have battled all year in the face of adversity. I am very proud to be a Blue Devil. I am just as proud as I have ever been."
