Rogers hired to lead Denison athletics

Coach Chad Rogers has been hired as Denison ISD’s new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. Rogers was introduced to the Denison community and the media on Monday in a press conference.
Rogers was hired after an extensive search that netted some 175 extremely qualified and experienced applicants. DISD officials say he will assume his duties at DISD as soon as he is released from his contract in Snyder, Texas, where he has served as Athletic Director and Head Coach since 2001, and Defensive Secondary and Offensive Running Backs Coach from 1999 to 2001. During his tenure in Snyder, Coach Rogers amassed an impressive success record as a dedicated and highly effective coach, leader, role model and community member. Rogers’ honors at Snyder include: six-time District Coach of the Year, three-time All South Plains Coach of the Year, two-time All Big Country Coach of the Year, and 3A Regional Coach of the Year. His record at Snyder speaks volumes about his unique abilities to coach and motivate young people while building a successful program: 2007 and 2004 State Semi-Finalist; 2003 State Quarter-Finalist; 2011, 2010 and 2006 Regional Finalist; 2008 Area Finalist; and 2005 and 2002 Bi-District Finalist.
“We’re extremely excited to have someone of this quality take over the leadership of our athletic programs and the DHS football program,” said DISD Superintendent Dr. Henry Scott. “Chad will be here in Denison organizing our athletic programs and getting ready for spring training, on a part-time basis, until he is released from his contract in Snyder…at which time he will be here full time. Chad is just a really top-quality person, coach and leader who will be a tremendous role model and motivator for our student athletes. We expect that the great success he’s experienced in Snyder will carry over into our Yellow Jacket football program here in Denison.”
