The Austin College baseball team was unable to get its offense going on Friday night, falling 8-0 against Dallas Christian College in the first game of a three game weekend set. The ‘Roos are now 1-8 overall this season heading into tomorrow’s doubleheader with DCC.
The Crusaders got on the board in the top of the first and added another run in the third to make it 2-0, and scored two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to make it a 6-0 game. The ‘Roos left two runners on base in the sixth and three in the seventh and were unable to get any runs on the board, and the Crusaders scored one more in the eighth and one in the ninth to make it an 8-0 final.
Todd Takabuki went 2-for-3 as the ‘Roos managed just five hits on the night, while Blaine Tew took the loss on the mound. Tew surrendered four runs, three earned, on seven hits with four strikeouts and five walks in 5.0 innings of work.
The ‘Roos and Crusaders start their doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
