Southeastern Tennis Opens GAC Tourney Play

The men enter the four-team tournament as the No. 2 seed and will open with rival East Central at 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

The women open their six-team tournament at 10 a.m. on Friday morning as the No. 4 seed facing No. 5 seeded Ouachita Baptist.

The Savage Storm men enter the weekend with a 13-9 record overall, but a 9-9 record against division II opponents and are currently fourth in the Central region.

The top four teams in the final central region ranking advance to the Central region tournament.

SE is riding a five-match winning streak, with the last two of those coming against GAC competition, which includes a 7-2 win over ECU in their last meeting.

A win for the men would mean a trip to the championship match to face the winner of top-seeded Ouachita Baptist and No. 4 seed Harding. That final would be at 11 a.m. on April 20.

On the women's side, the Storm enter the weekend 6-12 overall on the year and will be looking to snap a six-match losing skid to end the year.

Southeastern did finish the conference schedule at 2-4 which included a 7-2 win over tourney foe Ouachita Baptist back on March 7.

A win in the first round would earn the women a trip to the semi-finals to take on top-seeded Arkansas Tech at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon. A win over the Golden Suns would mean a berth in the championship match at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
