SOSU Volleyball Tripped up at TWU

Courtney Miller turned in a double-double, but to was not enough to power Southeastern as it fell to Texas Woman's 3-0 on Tuesday night in Denton, Texas.

The Savage Storm saw its three-match winning streak come to an end as their record drops to 13-16 on the season heading into the regular season finale on the road against Southwestern Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. in Weatherford, Okla., on Nov. 14.

Miller finished the match with 11 kills to lead the team across from 10 digs.

Julia Benford turned in seven kills in the effort, while Megan Kunkel added six.

Madelynne Cera dished out 26 assists to trigger the offense.

Defensively, Miller's 10 digs led the squad while Emily Gentle and Kunkel each added nine and Taylor Benner had eight.

Ariel Sanders led the net defense with three blocks in the match.

In the first set, SE jumped in front early, but a 7-1 TWU run broke an 8-8 tie and left SE in a 14-9 hole it would not climb out of, falling 25-16.

The second set followed a similar formula as the teams knotted up and 6-6 before the Pioneers posted an 11-3 run to take an eight point lead. SE would attempt to rally, but TWU would hold on for the 25-20 lead.

The third set was a back-and-forth affair, with the teams playing to a 16-16 tie. TWU would take a one point advantage and the teams would trade points until the Pioneers put together a 5-1 run to end the set with a 25-20 win.
