Southeastern's women's tennis program has been picked to finish fifth in the Great American Conference preseason poll released on Tuesday by the league office.
The Savage Storm collected 15 total points in the poll that was voted on by the league's seven women's tennis coaches, finishing five points ahead of Ouachita Baptist in sixth and seven points up on last place Henderson State.
SE was 11 points back of rival East Central who was fourth in the poll with 26 points and one of the seven first place votes. The Tigers were preceded by Southern Nazarene in third with 28 points and a first place vote, Harding in second with 28 points and two first place votes and Arkansas Tech atop the poll with 32 points and the remaining three first place votes.
The Storm women went 1-1 in the fall in head-to-head matchups, and featured strong outing at the individual tournament it attended.
Southeastern will open the championship segment of the season on Feb. 24 when it travels to Shawnee, Okla., to face Oklahoma Baptist, and will later open the home portion of the slate on March 3 when it hosts Dallas Baptist at 2 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
