Southeastern opened the day with a near no-hitter from Mindy McElroy, and ended it with a game-ending home runs from Brittany Wilson as the Savage Storm swept Southwestern Oklahoma State by scores of 4-0 and 11-2 in the first two games of their four-game series in Durant, Okla.
The wins lift the Savage Storm to 31-13 overall on the year and 24-9 in Great American Conference play, with the two teams scheduled to complete the series on Saturday with a noon double-header.
The opener was a game of small ball thanks to one of McElroy's best outings of the season.
She carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning only to have a well-placed infield single break up the no-hit bid.
Even so, McElroy picked up her 17th win and fourth complete game shutout by allowed no runs on one hit with three strikeouts.
Offensively, the game was driven along by Jessica Simmons who collected two of the team's three hits and scored three of the four runs. She also added a walk and two stolen bases.
Sydney Kramer picked up the other hit and added three RBI, while Lacie Cook drove in one as well.
Kramer put SE in front in the bottom of the first with an RBI single to left that plated Simmons.
Cook would drive in the next run, this one in the third inning, on a squeeze play in which Shaina Crites beat the ball to the plate for a 2-0 lead.
Kramer would follow with an RBI fielder's choice with Simmons beating the ball home as well for a 3-0 lead.
Kramer would also drive in Simmons for the final run of the game, that coming on a groundout in the fifth inning.
The Storm wasted little time in game two jumping ahead, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning, taking advantage of a wild-pitch, three walks, a hit batter and a three-run double by Lauren Renneker.
SE added two more runs in the third inning, first when Renneker drove in Megan Biorchfield on a fielder's choice and later when Conner Harmon singled home Arianna Jones for an 8-0 lead.
SWOSU answered with a run in the fourth and another in the top of the fifth to close to an 8-2 score, but Wilson ended the game in five innings with a three-run home run that cleared the scoreboard in left field, also plating Whitney Hamilton and Rachel Jones for the 11-2 victory.
Arianna Jones collected a pair of hits in the contest, while six others picked up one hit each.
Renneker led the way with four RBI, with Wilson driving in three on her home run, while Arianna Jones, Courtney Riddle and Harmon each added one RBI.
Shayna Milam got the start and earned the win in the shortened game after allowing no runs on three hits with two strikeouts in 3.0 innings pitched.
Jacee Bennett finished the game with 2.0 innings pitched, allowing two runs on five hits with three K's.
