Sherman Head Coach suspended for Battle of the Axe

By  |

On Thursday, the UIL Executive Committee issued a one-game suspension for Sherman High School Football Coach Gary Kinne to be enforced immediately for violations of rules regarding non-school participation. In addition, Kinne was issued a two-year probation and a public reprimand.

“We respect the UIL’s decision in this matter and we will continue to work diligently to make sure that we follow all UIL guidelines,” said Dr. Al Hambrick, Sherman ISD Superintendent.

Kinne has lead the Bearcats to a 2-2 record so far this year, and is 3-1 in Battle of the Axe matchups.

Even though it's possibly the biggest game of the year for the Bearcats, Gary Kinne will not be a part of it.

Don Purdy will be the interim head coach for Sherman during this evening's Battle of the Axe.
