SOSU Softball Moves Up to No. 4 in NFCA Poll

After five-straight weeks at No. 5 in the NFCA poll, Southeastern has moved up one spot to No. 4 in the most recent poll released on Wednesday morning.

The Savage Storm are currently 36-7 on the season and 21-3 in Great American Conference play, leading the league with one weekend of play remaining.

After debuting at No. 2 in the first regular season poll, SE spent three weeks in that spot before slipping to No. 5 where it spent the next five weeks before climbing in the most recent release.

The Storm picked up 354 points in the most recent poll, a 16 point pickup over last week, and is now just five points behind No. 3 Valdosta State who is 30-8 on the year.

SE made the move up due to a three spot drop by West Texas A&M who dipped from No. 2 to No. 5 with a 34-7 record. The Storm will make a road trip to Canyon, Texas, April 30 for a twinbill against the Buffaloes.

Indianapolis holds onto the top spot in the poll and does so unanimously with all 16 first place votes, holding a 30 point lead over No. 2 Armstrong Atlantic.

While no Great American Conference schools have moved into the rankings, the Central region is well represented.

Central Oklahoma moved up one spot to No. 7 with a 33-7 record, with Fort Hays State at No. 18 with a 35-7 record.

Minnesota State-Mannkato, Missouri Western State and Wayne State are all receiving votes in the most recent release.

Southeastern will close out the conference portion of its schedule on April 19-20 when it travels to Alva, Okla., for a four-game set against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
