A person familiar with the deal says Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Hatcher has agreed to a four-year, $27.5 million deal with the Washington Redskins.
The person spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity because the contract hadn't been signed yet.
Hatcher would represent the most significant move yet by the Redskins, who started cautiously in this year's free agency. He had 11 sacks last year and made his first Pro Bowl in his eighth season with the Dallas Cowboys.
The Redskins also signed defensive end Clifton Geathers from the Philadelphia Eagles, and another person familiar with the deal said free agent linebacker Darryl Sharpton from the Houston Texans has agreed to a one-year contract.
