Southeastern Oklahoma State University will host its first-ever Volleyball Alumni Weekend.
Southeastern volleyball coach Jenn King says the event will open on Sept. 27 as Southeastern hosts East Central. It will continue into Sept. 28 for an afternoon alumni scrimmage and barbecue. Former Savage or Savage Storm athletes from throughout the volleyball program's history are invited to participate in the scrimmage.
Southeastern volleyball has its roots in the early 1980's with the NAIA's recognition of women's sports, but was discontinued after a short run. It was revived in 1998 with Cherrie Wilmoth at the helm. She would coach the first nine years of the program's history before stepping aside after the 2006 season to take on an administrative role. She is currently Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations and Compliance.
